How you can save someone's life
By donating bone marrow!
Marrow is a tissue found in the large bones of the body. This marrow produces vital and neccessary parts in your blood including white cells which fight infection, red cells which carry oxygen, and platelets which prevent bruising and bleeding. Unfortunately once the marrow is no longer working properly, like leukemia, the only way counter any fatal blood diseases is for the patient to obtain a healthly compatible bone marrow.
How can you help?
Volunteer to become a marrow donor. To become a volunteer marrow donor, you must be between the ages of 18 and 60 and in general good health. A simple blood test administered through an authorized
NMDP donor center is required to enter your tissue type onto the National Registry.
